Inspired By The Ages Innovative- For Our Time

We have divided this section into two main areas.

Hey Mom, Where did you hide the Kitchen?!

HOME OWNERS: CREATE A COMFORTING "HOME PLACE"

Whether you are renovating your existing kitchen or building a new one, you should really consider the advantages of using Workstations for your project. Especially if you are trying to make a more livable kitchen, because, after all, you do spend a lot of time there. And you're not always cooking either. So why not make it a truly beautiful room, as nice as your living room but as functional as a it needs to be.

How do you convert a kitchen into a more livable space? Treat it like your other rooms. Furnish it. Then fill it with the things that give your other rooms their special personality. Create a nook for a reading chair or bring your favorite antique secretary desk into the kitchen. Mount your family portraits on the walls between the workstations or attach them to the sides of the workstations. Use lamps to light some of the worktops. Install floor height windows between your workstations so that your ficus tree will flourish in the light. Or mount open shelving between a couple of workstations to display one of your most prized collections. In short, surround yourself with the things that bring you comfort by creating a "Home Place".

Have you ever noticed where your guests congregate at parties? If they can find the kitchen, that's where they'll be. And though you try to make the kitchen presentable, it always falls short. With Workstations, some of the less attractive features of your kitchen can be hidden behind beautiful doors, leaving the natural materials of the countertops free to display your culinary sensations.

Does that trendy kitchen that you built 20 years ago still work great, but looks tired because it doesn't fit the latest style? Chances are, this will never happen to a YesterTec kitchen because our workstations are designed to have a timeless appearance from the beginning. And even if appliance designs change dramatically, yours will be concealed from view, tucked away inside your classically designed pieces of furniture.

There are many other reasons to consider workstations for your next kitchen, so be sure to read all the material featured on this site. If you are interested in purchasing our products, you will need to order them from a YesterTec representative. To help coordinate your project, you may require the services of a builder, remodeler, interior designer, or any other company of your choice associated with the design trade. We recommend this because our workstations are more technically oriented than most other types of furniture, and the services of an experienced job coordinator is usually required. Our catalog explains the simple ordering procedures and includes all of the information necessary to help you "design" your workstations from our enormous selection of models, materials and finishes.

To get a feeling for our prices, we have compiled average retail prices for some of our pieces as well as starting prices. Call us for these ballpark quotes, but beware, these prices will vary depending upon your location and your coordinators costs. Typically the "starting" prices include wall units made of stained pine, with flat panel doors, flush sides, molding only cornices, no extra options and the least expensive countertop that is appropriate.

For complete control of the appearance of the finished piece, any of our pieces are available unfinished. Units will be completely sanded and ready to receive the finish combination of your choice, as applied by your local painter, cabinet or furniture shop. Distressing and milk paint finishes can be achieved in this manner. We offer stenciling patterns for the perforated metal doors or flat paneled doors, and etched designs for the sliding glass doors of our ST units, or you can specify your own custom patterns to add personality to a special piece. Call us for other suggestions that may be appropriate for your design.

"This may be the look of the future, but it owes a lot to Yesteryear!" Janet Vassel Cannel 69 News

"We are really excited to see how designers will use the room defining spaces between the workstations! The possibilities are endless!" David W. Beer. R.A. President, YesterTec Design Company

DESIGNERS: YOUR IMAGINATION IS YOUR ONLY BOUNDARY!

The kitchen has always been an exciting area of design, perhaps because there are so many elements to arrange in order to produce that very special design. But it is also the one area that compromises the design themes that characterize the other rooms of the house. It is impossible to blend period designs into the kitchen when it is full of hi-tech appliances. Impossible until now.

Workstations offer a design alternative that can help to make today's kitchen-family room look more like a single homogeneous room than that of a laboratory and a living room. In a recent 1996 survey of 3,583 home-buyers, 81% of them said they wanted the kitchen and family room to be adjacent and visually open to each other. By providing furniture that can completely hide ovens, cook tops, dishwashers, refrigerators, and even sinks, the design possibilities greatly expand to include period designs or any design concept where the visibility of the appliances compromises the design's intent. A room can become much more than a kitchen.

Workstations offer a new opportunity for skilled designers to expand their horizons. The independence of each piece is a liberating quality that enables the designer to creatively mix sizes, styles, colors and materials in new and exciting ways. But designing with Workstations also requires an acute awareness of spatial design, so that the units are proportionately compatible with each other and located properly in the room. In addition, the spaces between the units can contain the very elements that define the room or enhance its design theme. And who is better equipped to create or select compatible accessories for a themed design than one who is skilled in design?

Designing kitchens using our workstations is much easier than designing a kitchen from scratch. Workstations are designed by selecting from our enormous selection of pre-designed and pre-priced components that are illustrated in our catalog. Pre-design facilitates the selection process, speeds up the order-delivery time line, and eliminates the learning curve required for typical custom production You do not have to worry about the construction details or dealing with the small army of suppliers and subcontractors that are typically involved in kitchen work. We have taken care of the technical details! Designing with workstations is very similar to selecting furniture for a room, only we are giving you more options than most furniture manufacturers can offer. You can assist your customers in choosing appropriate pieces to fit into their design, view a 3-D rendering of the design via our custom computer program, select all desired options for each unit and obtain a price quote all within a single design session. In addition, we will accommodate custom design requests that fall within the scope of our manufacturing and design parameters.

In addition to providing new design solutions for residential applications, some of our workstations are appropriate for commercial uses. Our Unit Kitchen Armoires are designed as auxiliary kitchens, to be used in hotel rooms, offices, games rooms, or apartments (such as senior living facilities) where most meals are taken elsewhere. These units have a two burner cook top that becomes additional countertop space when it is not in use, a 6 cu. ft refrigerator/freezer, a sink and a convection/microwave-exhaust hood. In addition, there is plenty of storage and countertop space. Our Hospitality Armoires enclose a complete bar or snack center. Some of our other units offer entertainment center and desk solutions that are appropriate for a variety of kitchen as well as other design situations.

For complete control of the appearance of the finished piece, you can order any of our pieces unfinished. Units will be completely sanded and ready to receive the finish combination of your choice.
